Learn the language of the Liturgy at Mater Ecclesiae “Lessons in Liturgical Latin” is an attempt to teach the basics of
the Latin language by using the “Ordo et Canon Missae” (the order and canon of the mass) as the only teaching
resource. Starting with the “Aspérges mē” and ending with the Benediction, you will be guided through
a variety of grammatical structures as they appear in the liturgy. This course is not geared towards graduate students but designed for busy moms and dads and daughters and sons who want to get a better understanding of liturgical Latin. It does not require previous knowledge but it does require a little bit of the sincerity you display every week by coming to Mater Ecclesiae. A new class for beginners is forming for September. We will meet every 2nd and 4th Sunday between the masses. There is no charge for the classes. The textbook is available as a download for a $5 donation to Mater Ecclesiae or the Knights of Columbus, or printed and bound for $20. For questions and sign up please contact Frank Nitsche-Robinson (click to send e-mail). For your donation you can download one or all three files. When working with the textbook on the computer, I recommend having two files open simultaneously, using the PDF file for checking and reading, and the Word file for working. With ALT - TAB you can switch back and forth between the two which makes it quicker and easier to look things up without losing your spot.
