DONALD ARTHUR WIEDERECHT
December 15, 1927 - July 24, 2004
Donald A. Wiederecht, born in the Bronx and a graduate of Fordham University (B.A. Journalism), began
his career in baseball pitching for the New York Yankees and the Milwaukee Braves organizations. He remembered retiring
a teenaged phenomenon named Willie Mays on one of the world's longer flies. A spring training arm injury ended Don's
baseball career. He joined CBS Television Network as Director
of Communications, Sports. This follow two years in the
army where he was a correspondent for the Pacific edition of Stars and Stripes in Japan. His experience covered a wide variety of fields; Corporate Director for Colgate Palmolive Company
and Financial Account Executive for Albert-Frank-Guenther Law, Inc. brought him to Wall Street. Donald was appointed Executive Director of the Tea Council of the USA. This position allowed
him to visit major tea producing countries; India, Indonesia, Kenya and Sri Lanka. Upon retiring, Don spent many happy hour at "Summer Trails Camp for Boys" coaching and
demonstrating baseball techniques. His love and affection
was, of course, for his family; but the great love he felt for the Catholic Church and Pope John Paul II was never ending.
"We must help each other to get to heaven", was Don Wiederecht's inspiration and way of life. He enjoyed
being a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
